The auction items included the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals trophies—the races were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic—and memorabilia belonging to some athletes from the local area and from other parts of Italy. This initiative combined sport and solidarity and was designed to financially support the main local health-care facility, which is on the frontline of the fight against Covid-19.

The auction items included the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals trophies—fourteen beautiful handmade glass plates crafted by Pio Alverà, one of the most renowned local craft workshops—and some autographed memorabilia belonging to great champions who have decided to auction them off for a good cause. The memorabilia ranged from Sofia Goggia’s Dainese helmet to Silvano Varettoni’s competition bib from Kitzbühel. “We are very proud of the positive response to the initiative in support of the hospital of Belluno. Many sports fans and Cortina lovers have shown incredible generosity and desire to get involved,” stated Valerio Giacobbi, CEO of Fondazione Cortina 2021. “Cortina 2021 could not stand idly by, so we decided to make use of our contacts, resources and skills. Our most heartfelt thanks go to our partners and to the athletes that helped us hold the auction, but above all we want to thank all those who have donated or bid in this auction. They showed that the values of sport are always synonymous with solidarity, dedication and commitment, also in favour of the community to which we belong and of the area in which we live”.
