Between Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October, four events will put a spotlight on the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, the 2020 Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals and the 2026 Olympics

Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL), 4th October 2019 – This weekend Fondazione Cortina 2021 – the organising committee of the next FIS Alpine World Ski Championships – will be at the Dolomiti Show of Longarone, the fair trade created to enhance the sports and tourism offer of the mountains around Belluno. This is an important opportunity to promote Cortina 2021, which will once again have the chance to tell its story bringing out the positive effects that the event will have for the development of the mountains and of the whole territory.

Cortina 2021 will be among the protagonists of the Dolomiti show, together with the UNESCO Dolomites Foundation, DMO and Cortina Marketing. This synergy is the result of the coordinating and accelerating role played by Cortina 2021, aimed at promoting the FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and the 2020 Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals as events of the whole Dolomites area.

Fondazione Cortina 2021 will actively participate in the Dolomiti Show with different events:

On Saturday 5th October at 12 pm, there will be the conference “Road to the 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships and the 2026 Olympics – prospects, opportunities and development of our territory“, organised by the Province of Belluno and the DMO Dolomites Consortium. The Mayor of Cortina Gianpietro Ghedina will take the floor. He stated: “Being at the Dolomiti Show to tell the story of the World Championships and the Olympics means talking about the value for our territory. Hosting these great sports events really represents an unmissable opportunity not just for our mountains: it means increasing their economic, social and infrastructural development. It is a great opportunity to relaunch the image of Cortina, but also a chance for a complete reorganisation of services and facilities.”

Then, at 5.30 pm, there will be the event “Let’s work together for big sports events“, dedicated to the Volunteers project. Giorgio Gaspari, Volunteer and Accreditation Manager at Fondazione Cortina 2021, together with Matteo Viel, Director of the Adecco branch in Belluno, will talk about the project for the recruitment and training of volunteers and partners who will be employed during the World Championships. It is a great project that involves the collaboration between Fondazione Cortina 2021 and The Adecco Group, Official HR Partner of the Cortina 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships, and which will result in the creation of an efficient team that will help to organise the event, thus being a great opportunity for personal and work growth for those who will be part of the project (from October 1st the new registration form is available on the website of Cortina 2021:

The 2021 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships are an exceptional opportunity for the relaunch of Cortina and the entire Dolomites area as a tourist destination, also for what concerns the hospitality sector; this topic will be discussed on Saturday 5th October at 6.30 pm during the presentation of the “Incoming Project for hotels and Tour Operators” of Fondazione Cortina 2021. Alessandro Broccolo, Marketing & Event Manager of Fondazione Cortina 2021, will present the opportunities that the World Championships will offer to the accommodation facilities of the whole province: visibility, synergies, involvement in the organisational process from March 2020, when the facilities will accommodate teams and service staff during the Audi FIS Ski World Cup Finals.

The Dolomiti Show will offer Cortina 2021 the chance to implement a beautiful project: on Sunday 6th October, Roberto Bortoluzzi, President of FISI Veneto and of the Commission that chaired the Donors project, will award 4 scholarships to the winners. This initiative, promoted by Fondazione Cortina 2021 in collaboration with FISI Veneto and carried out thanks to the support of EMAPRICE, aims to support the most deserving young athletes at school and in the sports field.

All these appointments allow to talk about sport and territory, with the aim of making the most of the next FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in a way to successfully promote not only Cortina but a wider territorial area, involving the best of our mountain heritage.
