Cortina d’Ampezzo lies in the north of the region of Veneto in the province of Belluno, just 44 km from the Austrian border.
Thanks to its location, Cortina d’Ampezzo is one of the main crossroads from north to south and can be easily reached from the central European countries.
You can get to Cortina d’Ampezzo by train, plane, car or bus: the Strada Statale 51 of Alemagna crosses Cortina from north (direction Dobbiaco/Toblach – Bolzano/Bozen – Brennero/Brenner) to south (direction Belluno – Venice), while the SS 48bis of the Dolomites crosses Cortina from east (direction Passo Tre Croci – Auronzo – Misurina) to west (direction Passo Falzarego – Passo Pordoi).
The closest highway exits are Pian di Vedoia if you are travelling northward on the A27 (72 km), and Bressanone/Brixen if you are travelling southward on the A22 (87 km).
How to get there
To reach Cortina d’Ampezzo you need to arrive first at Venezia S. Lucia train station through Trenitalia or Italo train services.
From Venezia S. Lucia you need to get to Calalzo di Cadore train station (35 km). From here, the Dolomitibus bus service will take you to Cortina (about 1-hour trip).
Getting to Cortina d’Ampezzo from Venice takes approximately 2 ½ hours (from Rome 8 hours, from Milan 5 hours).
If you are travelling from the north, you need to take the train line that connects Innsbruck to Fortezza/Franzensfeste and get off at Dobbiaco/Toblach railway station (average duration of the train trip from Innsbruck to Dobbiaco/Toblach: about 4 hours).
Connection from Dobbiaco/Toblach railway station to Cortina is operated by the SAD bus service (duration of the trip: about 45 minutes).

FLIGHT + AUTOBUS
The bus services Cortina Express and ATVO connect Venice and Treviso airports with Cortina d’Ampezzo.
From the other airports (Verona and Innsbruck) a bus/shuttle service to the nearest train station is available. From there, you can reach Cortina d’Ampezzo through the FlixBus service.
FLIGHT + TRAIN + BUS
A regular bus/shuttle service to the nearest train station is available from all airports.
Trains to get to Cortina d’Ampezzo stop at Calalzo di Cadore station (35 km) from the south, and at Dobbiaco/Toblach station from the north. From these two train stations, you can reach Cortina by bus: the bus service is operated by Dolomitibus from Calalzo and by SAD from Dobbiaco/Toblach.
From the south: Cortina d’Ampezzo can be easily reached in 2 hours via the A27 highway from Venice/Mestre to Pian di Vedoja (Belluno). From here, you can take the SS 51 di Alemagna, the road which crosses “valle del Boite” and the towns of the Cadore area: this is the main road to reach Cortina d’Ampezzo and the only one that does not require to cross Dolomite passes.
From the north: take the A22 highway in Verona, leave it at Bressanone/Brixen tollgate (193km) and proceed on SS 51 di Alemagna towards Dobbiaco/Toblach; from here, turn towards Cortina through Passo Cimabanche. It takes about 1 hour to get from the tollgate of Bressanone/Brixen to Cortina.
Both highways (A27 and A22) are linked to the main A4 highway, which connects Trieste to Turin via Venice, Verona and Milan.
