Cortina d’Ampezzo (BL), 8 February 2021 – Great success for the social media and digital channels of Cortina 2021, during a World Championship edition which – also due to the absence of a live public caused by Covid-19 restrictions – has invested heavily in virtual platforms capable of engaging fans all over the world.
The opening ceremony of the 46th Alpine World Ski Championships took place only yesterday, and already the data available to Fondazione Cortina 2021 testify to the deep engagement of the fan base as they participate virtually in the World Championships, with numbers exceeding initial expectations.
During the last 15 days, the Instagram profile of Cortina 2021 – which to date has nearly 40 thousand followers – has achieved approximately 380 thousand impressions (an increase of 40% compared to the same period in January), reaching almost 1 million users in the last month. During the last two weeks Facebook impressions have shot up to 1 million (an increase of 200% on the previous month) and registering overall growth of 40%; Twitter saw 31 thousand impressions, with an engagement growth of 150% and 70% increase in visitors. LinkedIn, had 2.500 new visits to the page in the last month, with 120% more impressions than in the previous period and a 90% growth in followers.
Excellent results also for the Cortina 2021 Official App, which was the second most downloaded app in the store, with 9 thousand downloads. The website of Cortina 2021 registered more than 59 thousand unique user visits on Sunday 7 February – on occasion of the Opening Ceremony of the World Championships.
Finally, the ratings of the World Championship opening ceremony, broadcast last night on Rai2, were also good, with a share that exceeded 8%, equal to 1.6 million viewers watching it live on television, and a peak audience exceeding 2 million.
These numbers confirm the great importance of the digital platform, especially for this edition of the world championships, and the strong desire on the part of users and fans to follow this great international ski show, even from a distance, experiencing all the excitement of the World Championships from the “virtual” side of the track.
