Once upon a time, an anguana, a water creature, lived in a cave on a mountain. Every morning, it would admire the sunrise from the shores of a small lake together with the marmots. One day, a local woman, who had been to distant lands, returned home with a newborn baby girl and died. The anguana adopted the baby, who grew up with the marmots, and named her Moltina.
Years later, a prince saw Moltina and fell in love with her. They got married and Moltina moved to the castle. One day, during a rendezvous with other queens, everyone was asked to tell the story of their ancestors. Moltina had none and was ashamed of it. She wanted to escape. So the mountain, which understood Moltina’s feelings, turned red just like the her face.
Moltina managed to escape in the confusion and reached the mountains, where she was joined by her husband. They decided to live there and the mountain, which remained red forever, has since been named Croda Rossa (Red Peak).
